THE PASSAGES

What is a Passage?

An ocean or offshore passage is a journey across the open sea, sometimes from one continent to another.

There are various types of ocean passages, each with its own characteristics:

Long ocean passages often span several weeks or even months, covering vast distances such as from Europe to America. These journeys require extensive self-sufficiency and meticulous planning.

Short ocean passages typically last a few days to weeks and may involve sailing between neighboring islands or along the coast of a continent. These are ideal for sailors with limited time or those seeking to gain initial experience.

Passages in cold waters take you through regions like the Arctic where you must be prepared for extreme weather conditions and icy temperatures. The wildlife and landscapes are unique, but the challenges are significant.

Passages in warm waters occur in tropical or subtropical regions such as the Caribbean. The weather is generally pleasant and these warm waters offer rich marine life and beautiful beaches.

Not Only About Sailing

During such voyages, you will also engage in social and scientific projects aimed at protecting the oceans and gathering crucial data for research and conservation efforts. By participating, you contribute to the preservation of marine environments and support vital scientific work.

Our travels span all four directions, following the Barefoot Route or exploring remote regions with unique wildlife and flora. We aim to minimize our impact on these ecosystems while documenting and preserving their beauty.

Testimonial

Gregory is very thorough and diligent in boat preparation and passage planning. He demonstrates great seamanship and crew management.

He’s a good hearted person with a great knowledge of sailing and a real professional skipper as well; he’s absolutely the kind of guy you want to have around when the situation gets rough.

I highly recommend him as skipper and person, and would gladly sail with him again.
