Enola Grand 8 Expedition

The Enola Grand 8 Expedition is the pinnacle of the whole Enola Sailing Project.

It is a 30,000+ nautical miles circumnavigation around the North and South American continents, sailing through the iconic Arctic Northwest Passage and down to the Antarctic Peninsula, crossing the Panama Canal twice.

The expedition mainly aims at raising awareness around the health of the oceans and demonstrate how ever more rapid climate change is affecting ecosystems, marine wildlife, inland flora and fauna, and impacting communities allover the Americas.

The Purpose

Climate change and human activity are exponentially impacting our planet and its oceans, with severe consequences for inland and offshore ecosystems, as well as communities around the world. The Enola Grand 8 Expedition aims at further monitoring and providing evidence of these impacts through scientific measurements, observations, and testimonies from local populations. The collected data will be made available in open source.

How

In the years prior to the expedition, we will already have been equipped to gather valuable scientific data and information through samples and measurements taken during our various offshore passages. This will be conducted in collaboration and under supervision of scientists and/or specialized organisations. During the Enola Grand 8 Expedition the ambition is to further strengthen those collaborations with new tools and means, and by regularly welcoming on board specialists, investigators or college students from different fields such as marine biology, climatology, geology or anthropology.
