The Founders
Steffen Liess and Gregory Boisdet, co-founders of the Enola Sailing Project:
“We’ve been friends for a long time, and both have a passion for offshore sailing. The idea for the Enola Sailing Project came to us while crossing the Atlantic eastbound aboard Steffen’s Moody 41, after she was sadly stranded in the Caribbean during the darker days of the pandemic.
We have a deep attraction for the oceans, and we love sailing them as much as we commit to protecting them. It’s this common fondness that gave rise to our project, designed to share our knowledge and experience of the sea with other enthusiasts. To support the Enola Sailing Project, we founded The Grand 8 Sailors Circle in 2024, a sailing club established as a non-profit association. We then acquired SV Enola, which underwent a major refit. She’ll be back at sea in the summer of 2025, offering club members of all levels the opportunity to set sail in ideal conditions to develop their seamanship through a great variety of offshore sailing passages, in great safety and under expert guidance and friendly supervision.
The ultimate goal of the project is to organize the Enola Grand 8 Expedition. Scheduled to start in 2028 and last around four years, this 30,000-nautical-mile voyage round the Americas will cross the mythical Northwest Passage and reach the Antarctic Peninsula, and will have a major scientific purpose.”
You’ll be able to learn more about them and their project in an upcoming long interview. Stay tuned!
